Maybe we've heard it way too many times before, but it's true, so let's hear it again:
We novices have to be patient and persistent.
Jeff Kinney says in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Interview with Jeff Kinney,” “…for nine years I worked on my Wimpy Kid stuff. I knew it was my opus, my one good idea, and I was willing to go 20 years if I needed to, so the time passing didn’t bother me. I knew that I was working on what I was supposed to be working on.”
I will be so happy when we get to that place, that place in our writing lives where even if we’re not getting the results we want, we know we’re where we’re supposed to be.
