Lots of writers have broken into print via contests. *Newbery award-winning Christopher Paul Curtis comes to mind.I’ve been tinkering with a personal essay or two for some time now. Perhaps I need to dust one of them off, revise it, and submit it to The Writer 2011 Essay/Memoir Contest.
