I’m a parent, I can’t write…part 1

Parents who write are always looking for ways to manage their time efficiently. Here are 2 things that work for me.

    1. Start early. Most days I try to get up at least an hour before my son does. Sure, some days I use this time to sip coffee, read a prayer, fret about upcoming events, but most days I use this time to write. By the time my son’s alarm sounds, I am relaxed and happy to greet him. I have devoted time to my passion, and I’m ready to get back to mothering.

    2. Leave late. If I’m working on a project (book, article, review, whatever), I work after hours. After hours is when I punch-out as a parent. This is when it is past my son’s bedtime. He might be asleep and then again he might not, but up until recently at 9:30pm he had to at least be in bed. My motto with him has always been, “You can stay up all night as long as you’re in bed reading.”

    I know, I know, I’m a horrible mom :)
How do you snatch time for writing?
