People often ask
me how I find time to write.
I always reply, “I
would never get anything written if it were not for deadlines.”
Donald Murray's Writing to Deadline helps me make sure I never miss
one, or at least I rarely do.
In it, he tells this story:
“I am told that the term [deadline]
comes from an actual line drawn outside of a prison's walls. When prisoners crossed
the deadline they were shot. Dead. And that's the way I feel about deadlines. They
must be met or I will face professional death” (p.17).

Dr. Hinton-Johnson,
ReplyDeleteEarlier this summer in READ 680, you gave us a writing confidence survey. I am afraid I accidentally mailed it back with my textbook, but it would come in handy for a class I am taking now. Any idea where I could find that online?
