Which writing magazines do you refuse to live without?

*Knowing what to read is half the battle.

The 2 subscriptions I never let **fully expire:

Even if I do not have time to read them cover to cover, when they arrive in the mail, I smile and remember my goal.

I also like Poets & Writers, but I don’t own a subscription.
Hopefully other newbies will weigh in here.

*This is just an expression. Look at my stack of magazines, and this isn’t all of them. If reading were half the battle, I wouldn’t be a novice.  But reading these magazines help me stay motivated, encouraged. They also teach me things about craft.

**Sometimes when I feel like giving up, I let them expire, but I always renew because I love writing. Award-winning author Angela Johnson once told me, “My writing was something that I did because I didn’t have any choice. If I never got anything published, I would still write.”

I know exactly what she means, and you know too.

  1. I used to subscribe to Writers News, based here in the UK. Taught me much about my writing strengths and weaknesses.
