This probably sounds crazy, but I didn’t know I had a gift for writing until my brother Travis told me. As I said before, I knew I enjoyed writing and would write teen romance when I was growing up, but I didn’t see it as a gift.
You would think that someone who had studied English enough to earn 3 degrees would know if they had some type of gift or not. I didn’t. Writing was for Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison.
You are lucky. You know you have a gift and you’re trying to figure out how you’re going to share it with the world. You’re closer to doing this than you think.
I dedicated my book, Sharon M. Draper: Embracing Literacy to Travis. Without him, I might have stopped writing a long time ago.
Who believed in you? Who do you believe in?
Who believed in you? Who do you believe in?
Don’t forget to take my poll so I can get a sense of how I can write posts to help you use your gift.
